What Led You to Become a Transactional/Corporate Lawyer?

I gravitated towards transactional work immediately out of law school. Transactional work fits my personality – it is face-paced, there is constant client interaction, and, despite being adverse, all parties want to close the deal. No one wins when a deal dies, and I take pride in finding solutions in difficult situations that work for my client but still keep the deal alive.

Describe Your Most Interesting and Memorable Project?

It is difficult to identify a single project, but the most memorable deals are local projects. I have been fortunate to work on many local deals that directly affected the community and that I get to experience in my everyday life. Seeing a variety of projects flourish for many years after closing makes the work more intimate.

Tell us Something About You That Most People Don’t Know.

I was born in Dallas, Texas; our family moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1995; and our family moved to again to Cincinnati in 2002. I have had some luck with Super Bowls and hometown teams. While I lived in Dallas, the Cowboys won Super Bowls in 1993, 1994 and 1996. A year after I moved to Wisconsin, the Packers won the Super Bowl in 1997. Unfortunately, my move to the Cincinnati area has not worked out for the Bengals. I think Joe Burrow will change that!
