The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is warning consumers about malicious actors impersonating personnel from the SBA and at the Office of Disaster Assistance. Regardless of whether you have applied for a loan or other assistance, the SBA is advising all to be on guard against phishing emails and social engineering over the telephone, commonly known as “vishing,” both of which are being used to gather personally identifiable information and/or company information for fraudulent purposes.
