Nick Birkenhauer

Nick is a management-side employment lawyer who helps businesses navigate the day-to-day realities of Human Resources and Employment Law. He works with employers of all sizes across a wide range of industries, including healthcare and manufacturing, and partners closely with management and HR professionals to help clients achieve their organizational HR objectives.

Nick approaches each engagement with a practical aim: helping clients address employment issues in a way that supports their people, protects their business, and keeps operations moving forward. Whether the need is immediate HR counseling, compliance guidance, contract preparation and review, or policy development and drafting, Nick works side-by-side with clients to understand what’s driving the issue and what outcome the organization needs—then helps chart a clear path ahead.

When disputes arise, Nick brings extensive employment litigation experience and has successfully practiced at all levels of Kentucky state and federal courts. He also regularly represents clients before state and federal administrative agencies, including the EEOC, DOL, Kentucky Labor Cabinet, and Kentucky Human Rights Commission.

Outside the office, Nick stays active in the community. He currently serves on the boards of Covington Catholic High School and the Congregation of Divine Providence, and he is active with the Diocese of Covington’s Alliance for Catholic Urban Education. Previously, Nick served as chairperson of Northern Kentucky SHRM and the Salvation Army of Northern Kentucky.

A native of Northern Kentucky, Nick resides in Fort Thomas with his family.
