
Jared is a member of the firm’s Business & Transactional, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Tax Planning & Compliance Practice Groups. He brings a strong blend of transactional and tax experience to his practice, helping business owners and corporate clients navigate complex transactions with practical, strategic counsel from deal structure through closing.
Jared has represented both buyers and sellers in transactions across a variety of industries. His recent experience includes representing the seller of a mortgage company in a transaction valued at approximately $1.4 million, purchasers in the approximately $4 million acquisition of a roofing company, and the seller of an IT company in a transaction valued at approximately $18 million.
Before joining DBL Law, Jared served as in-house M&A Tax Attorney for NextEra Energy, where he advised on more than $1 billion in energy-sector transactions and worked closely with corporate development teams on deal structure, tax risk, and transaction documents across a wide range of acquisitions and joint ventures.
Jared’s background also includes tax and transaction work with KPMG and Grant Thornton, where he handled tax due diligence, R&D tax credit analysis, multistate tax issues, and complex research projects for major corporate clients across multiple industries. This combination of M&A and tax experience allows Jared to evaluate transactions from both a business and tax perspective, identify potential issues early, and help clients structure deals that align with their broader objectives.
A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law with a focus in Tax Law/Taxation, Jared combines strong technical knowledge with a business-minded approach to client service. He is active in the Kentucky Bar Association’s Tax Section, currently serving as Chair Elect after previously serving as Vice Chair. Jared is also committed to serving the Northern Kentucky community and serves on the Board of Directors for Fellowship of Christian Athletes Northern Kentucky.

- Represented NextEra Energy as in-house tax counsel in its ~$800 million acquisition of Symmetry Energy Solutions, advising on tax-efficient structuring and transaction execution.
- Represented NextEra Energy as in-house tax counsel in the formation of Nitro Renewables Holdings, a joint venture with Blackstone involving an approximately $900 million investment, advising on tax-efficient structuring and joint venture formation matters.
- Represented NextEra Energy as in-house tax counsel in its acquisition of New Wave Energy, advising on tax structuring and transactional matters.
