Jalen Sehlhorst

Jalen is an Associate Attorney in DBL Law’s Medical Liability Practice Group, where he focuses on defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and long-term care providers in complex medical negligence matters. He brings a thoughtful and disciplined approach to litigation that was shaped by his experience at multiple levels of the legal system – including service with the highest court in the Commonwealth.

Before joining DBL Law, Jalen served as a judicial law clerk to former Chief Justice Laurance B. VanMeter of the Kentucky Supreme Court, where he gained firsthand insight into appellate decision-making and legal analysis at the highest level. He also practiced as a litigation associate in the products and transportation group at Roetzel & Andress, further strengthening his ability to navigate complex and high-stakes disputes.

Jalen earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law. During his tenure in law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor for the Northern Kentucky Law Review and competed on the school’s trial team. He was also selected for the W. Bruce Lunsford Academy for Law, Business + Technology honors program and received the CALI Award in Intellectual Property and Other Intangible Rights – Drafting. Prior to attending law school, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cincinnati.

Jalen was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. With that upbringing came a deep-rooted appreciation for all Cincinnati sports teams – no matter the outcome of the season. When he is not in the office, he is training for an endurance event or spending time with his wife, Jessica, and two dogs, Stevie and Bowie.
