Crestview Hills, KY – Mr. Robert M. Hoffer (Bob) has been named “The 2012 Northern Kentuckian of the Year” by Covington Catholic High School. Mr. Hoffer will be honored on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.
Bob heads DBL’s employment law division and represents employers of all sizes including some of the largest throughout the Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area. He has also represented hospitals and physicians for over thirty years on employment and medical negligence issues and has successfully litigated numerous employment cases in federal and state courts. He is the current president of the Kentucky Defense Counsel, chair of the Northern Kentucky Chamber’s Labor and Employment committee and a member of the Northern Kentucky Human Resource Association.
Bob is a graduate of the Covington Latin School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University, Cum Laude, in 1976. He went on to study law at Salmon P. Chase College of law, and graduated with a J.D. in 1980. He has practiced law with DBL since then.
Bob’s philanthropic and community commitments are varied and significant. He is the co-chair of the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home Foundation and co-chair of the Children’s Home capital campaign. He is a member of the Carmel Manor Council Ethics Committee and serves on the Board of Directors of Carmel Manor, Notre Dame Academy, Northern Kentucky Bar Association and Tri-County Economic Development Corporation (Tri-Ed). He is a former member of the Diocesan Pro-life Commission and a former member of the advisory board for the Sisters of Divine Providence.
Bob was honored in 2010 with the Covington Latin School “Bonitatem Award” for Outstanding Community Service and in 2009 with the Northern Kentucky Chamber “Leader of Distinction” award. He was also the elected Vice-President of “Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2007.”
Bob has also coached youth sports for over 20 years and been a leader for the Diocese of Covington assisting with their Cursillo and Christian Awakening retreats.
Bob resides in Ft. Mitchell with his wife, Diane and four children: Eric, Kevin, Brittany and Jordan.
