DBL Partner Patrick R. Hughes was recently appointed by Governor Steve Beshear to chair the Gateway Community and Technical College Nominating Commission. The Commission is comprised of five members who are charged with providing nominee recommendations to the Governor for appointment to the Gateway Community and Technical College Board of Directors. Hughes’s term expires April 15, 2013.
Hughes is the former legal counsel to the Secretary of the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, where he oversaw capital projects, property management, procurement and financial management. His practice at DBL focuses on banking, commercial transactions and economic development as he represents clients in government licensing and administrative law matters.
While serving in state government, Hughes was responsible for drafting portions of the original legislation which formed the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. This experience provides Hughes with the unique perspective into the original goals and mission of the community and technical college system.
“I am honored by Governor Beshear’s appointment and look forward to making a contribution to Kentucky’s higher education system,” said Hughes.
