Health insurers will soon be required to communicate policy information to consumers in a clear, straightforward way, this according to the final rule published today by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Under the rule, consumers shopping for insurance will have access to two documents that spell out policy features in plain language and define common terms such as “deductible” and “co-payment.”
The forms will be available to consumers beginning September 23, or soon thereafter.
The final rule can be found here.
