Guilfoyle to join Beshear’s transition team
from the Business Courier of Cincinnati online update—November 9, 2007A Northern Kentucky lawyer will be part of the transition team for Kentucky Gov.-elect Steve Beshear. Beshear, on Thursday, announced the members of the team, which will conduct a cabinet-by-cabinet review of the government. He named his campaign manager, Jim Cauley, as chief of staff for his new administration, and Ellen Hesen, a Louisville attorney, as general counsel.
The team includes members from across the state, both Republican and Democrat, according to a news release.
Mark Guilfoyle, an attorney with Deters, Benzinger & LaVelle in Covington, will serve as chairman for the Finance Cabinet review. Guilfoyle, who specializes in labor and employment relations, administrative and zoning law, economic development/government affairs and constitutional law, held several top-level state positions during the administration of Brereton Jones.
The team also includes current Lt. Gov. Steve Pence, who angered Gov. Ernie Fletcher by refusing to run for a second term. He’ll chair the Justice Cabinet review.
Lt. Gov.-elect Daniel Mongiardo, a physician and former state senator, will chair the transition team, Beshear said in the release.
Beshear, a former lieutenant governor and attorney general, defeated Fletcher’s attempt to win a second term on Nov. 6.
