DBL Partner Dennis Kennedy was recently appointed by the Governor’s office to the Kentucky Health Information Exchange Coordinating Council. This 23-member advisory council assists the Governor’s Office of Electronic Health Information Exchange to advance Kentucky’s health information exchange. The Council is charged with developing a State Health Information Exchange strategic and operational plan.
Kennedy will serve for a two-year term on the Council’s Privacy and Security Committee. He and his peers will develop privacy and security recommendations for electronic health information exchange, based on state and federal guidelines. They will also develop trust/data sharing agreements and patient consent/opt-in & opt-out guidelines.
At DBL, Kennedy represents a variety of health care clients throughout Ohio and Kentucky. He handles a number of Medicare and Medicaid issues and advises clients on peer review and credentialing, hospital and medical staff bylaws, the development of corporate compliance programs, HIPAA and state privacy and security laws, risk management, joint ventures and other transactional matters. He is a member of the Health Care Section of the Kentucky Bar Association and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Kennedy is a former health care accountant, hospital risk manager, and corporate compliance officer.« Back to news
