Even though August is almost here, there is still plenty of time to enjoy the summer season and explore downtown Cincinnati after work. Many Cincinnatians are finding DBL Law Market in the Park a great starting point on Monday evenings from 4pm to 8pm. Join up with your office mates for a game of cornhole, grab some refreshments, listen to music, and browse the booths, full of local produce, specialty foods and crafts.
Then, don’t dismiss the streets of OTR on Monday night. You can also get your taste of the town by hitting some of the restaurants that surround the Washington Park neighborhood. Here are just a few of the highlights for you to try:
Taste of Belgium
Taste of Belgium started in 2007 when Jean-François Flechet brought back a 120 lb. cast-iron waffle-maker from his native Belgium. A little waffle place at Findlay Market grew one waffle at a time to become a new Cincinnati favorite. Taste of Belgium expanded into a food establishment, including a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner with a large selection of Belgian beers and a wide selection of Genevers (Belgian national alcohol and the mother-of-all-gins). Taste of Belgium draws on its Belgian heritage to create a one-of-a-kind, Belgian-inspired, locally infused culinary experience.
The Lackman
The Lackman is the latest one-of-a-kind bar experience by Four Entertainment Group (4EG). Located at 1237 Vine St., the bar is on the first floor of the Lackman building, built by turn-of-the-century Cincinnati brewery Herman Lackman. The Lackman is in the Gateway Quarter neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine and includes a full bar and eclectic wine selection. The diverse beer selection includes 14 beers on tap and over 30 bottled beers covering microbrews, imports and domestics. Preserved of its historic beauty by retaining the original tile floor and exposed brick, The Lackman charm also includes HD flat-screen televisions, handmade chandeliers by local artists and large, plush leather bar stools.
Bakersfield OTR
Bakersfield OTR is a small agricultural city in southern California, where there was and still is a heavy Mexican influence. That’s why Bakersfield serves Mexican-influenced street fare with a focus on tacos, tequilas, and whiskeys. Our tequila, whiskeys, and beers will range from super premium to super affordable. Our food is simple, street-driven, authentic Mexican. Our music and feel is inspired by honky-tonk around the country. We play everything from rock to country, blues to funky.
