DBL Donates $600,000 to St. Elizabeth Healthcare Foundation

October 1, 2009 DBL Law

DBL recently donated $600,000 to the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Foundation. This generous donation ranks among the top five major gift contributions in the history of the foundation, established to support the mission of St. Elizabeth Healthcare and its patients.

St. Elizabeth is a longstanding client of DBL, which has served as legal counsel for the hospital system for over 50 years.

“DBL greatly values our relationship with St. Elizabeth Healthcare,” said Gerald E. Benzinger, Managing Partner of DBL. “Providing the foundation with the funds to support patients in new and innovative ways was clearly a priority for our firm,” continued Benzinger.

“During these challenging economic times for our region, this donation is an incredible gesture on the part of DBL,” said Joseph W. Gross, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “It is a testament to the strength and character of the firm, and we are extremely proud to have them serve as our legal counsel.”

The funds from DBL were in direct response to the foundation’s need to meet their fundraising goals to obtain Northern Kentucky’s first surgical robot, the daVinci ®   Surgical™ System. The system cost over $1 million.

“Our gift was directly in line with the values of our firm,“ continued Benzinger. “All of our associates and partners have a strong commitment to civic and community efforts throughout our region. We are pleased to make this donation, supporting this new technology for St. Elizabeth’s patients.”

“Acquiring this machine means we can offer our patients first-rate care in a less-invasive way,” shared John S. Dubis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for St. Elizabeth. “Without the generosity of DBL, this would not have been a reality for our patients and our community.”
