Cathy L. Stickels is a section leader in DBL Law’s Medical Liability group and specializes in the areas of healthcare law and medical malpractice defense. Cathy has represented hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care and senior living facilities as well as healthcare professionals throughout Kentucky.
Cathy is an attorney and a licensed Registered Nurse who brings her unique knowledge, experience and passion to today’s complex and highly regulated healthcare environment. She has successfully tried cases at all levels of litigation, including jury trials to defense verdicts and decisions before appellate courts. Cathy has engaged in numerous successful mediations and has defended healthcare professionals before various regulatory boards.
Cathy graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Clinical Psychology from Western Kentucky University in 1986. Following graduation, she worked with mentally ill and developmentally disabled adults in an Ohio adult outreach program. In 1991, Cathy graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of Mount St. Joseph. She worked as a Critical Care and Emergency Room nurse in two Northern Kentucky hospitals. She obtained her law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2001. Cathy is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and U.S. District for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Cathy is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Hospital Association, American Health Lawyers Association, Kentucky Academy of Hospital Attorneys, Kentucky Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute.
Cathy has served on several boards and committees, including Legal Aid of the Bluegrass, Kentucky Educational Television, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and Senior Services of Northern Kentucky. Cathy is an active member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Women’s Initiative.
