Betsy Weber Appointed to Kentucky Registry of Election Finance

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY – April 20, 2016 – DBL Law is pleased to announce that Elizabeth G. Weber, partner and head of the firm’s bankruptcy, commercial law and collections practice, has been appointed to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.

The role of the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance is to assure the integrity of the Commonwealth’s electoral process by making certain there is full public access to campaign financial data and financial disclosure reports, and by administering Kentucky’s campaign finance laws. They ensure reports pertinent to the election campaign financing are filed on a timely basis and review the information for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Regulatory functions include tracking of candidate and committee election finance activities, audit functions, investigations, review of and response to requests for advisory opinions, and adjudications of administrative charges of violations and campaign finance laws.

Kentucky’s campaign finance laws apply to all candidates for office, including gubernatorial slates, judicial, statewide, legislative, city, county, and school board candidates, as well as political issue committees, permanent committees (PACs), unauthorized campaign committees, contributing organizations, inaugural committees, state and local party executive committees, and caucus campaign committees.

“It’s an honor to serve this agency, for which I have such a great appreciation. Ensuring the transparency in the electoral process and financing is crucial to maintaining a high standard for the Commonwealth. I look forward to making a positive impact,” remarked Weber.

A fifth-generation lawyer, Betsy obtained a B.A. from the University of Illinois and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame.  She is admitted to practice law in both Kentucky and Ohio, and is a member of the Northern Kentucky and Kentucky Bar Associations.  She served as a member of the Kentucky Board of Tax Appeals from 1996-2004 and she is a former member of the Kentucky’s Workers Compensation Nominating Commission.

Outside the office, Betsy is an active board member of the Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky, as well as Covington Catholic High School.
