Mark D. Guilfoyle represents employers in employment and labor relations matters, practices extensively in the area of administrative law (health care and government affairs), and represents media clients in First Amendment cases.

From 1991 to 1995, Mark served in the administration of Kentucky Governor Brereton C. Jones, serving at the highest levels of the administration as General Counsel to the Governor, Budget Director and Secretary of the Governor's Executive Cabinet.

Mark has achieved success in a number of significant cases:

  • Successfully defended employer in disability discrimination case. Pangburn v. Northern Kentucky Univ., 210 F.3d 372 (6th Cir. 2000).

  • Obtained jury verdict for employer in sexual harassment case. Bernstein v. CA-1 Services, E.D. Ky. No. 98-CV-164-JGW.

  • Successfully defended Kentucky's 24-hour waiting period/informed consent abortion law. Eubanks v. Schmidt, 126 F. Supp. 2d 451 (W.D. Ky. 2000).  

  • Obtained directed verdict for WCPO-TV in libel case. Johnson v. WCPO-TV, Kenton Circuit Court No. 97-CI-2512.

  • Successfully defended race track in case involving $1.6 million Pick Six. White v. Turfway Park, 909 F. 2d 941 (6th Cir. 1990).

    Mark serves as Vice-Chairman of the Alliance for Catholic Urban Education and on the Northern Kentucky University Foundation Board of Trustees.  In the past, he has served as a Board member of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the Kentucky League for Educational Alternatives and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

    Mark resides in Edgewood with his wife and five children.
