  • Unique focus on the rapidly evolving law of technology.
  • Powerful credentials for legal leadership in the information age.
  • “Taking the business approach to legal issues, not the legal approach to business issues”

Devoted Exclusively To Legal Issues Affecting Technology Dressman Benzinger LaVelle’s Technology Law Practice Group offers the advantage of a discrete practice devoted exclusively to the legal issues affecting computers, the Internet, electronic commerce, information technology and biotechnolgy.

Rather than treat technology law as an add-on to another practice group, Dressman Benzinger LaVelle, recognizing the importance of this field, has established a separate practice group that focuses on technology law and the related issues that affect businesses. We combine a thorough understanding of the issues unique to this field with broad knowledge of business and commercial legal issues.

Applying Experience In Technology, Business And Law The group is headed by Alan Hartman, former in-house counsel to two local software companies and a practitioner of technology law for more than two decades. Under his guidance, the group attends to clients’ legal needs by “Taking the business approach to legal issues, not the legal approach to business issues.” The attorneys in the Technology Practice Group combine knowledge of the technology with pragmatic legal and business advice.

A Full Range Of Experience Computers and information technology are critical to the success of any business today, not just technology companies. In addition, the technology surrounding life sciences is burgeoning. The rapid developments in technology and the broad application of this technology in the marketplace demand that the attorneys practicing in this area be business law generalists at the same time they develop a focused understanding of the unique issues in the technology arena. The following is a broad sampling of the kinds of issues the group addresses:

  • Technology commercialization agreements
  • Licensing and technology transfer agreements
  • Product acquisition and distribution agreements
  • Collaborative research agreements
  • E-commerce and “cloud” agreements
  • ISP, ASP, SaaS contracts
